Since I’m a lazy person that puts things off until the last minute, I’ve finally ordered the books I want my father to bring with him when he comes over to Nanjing in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, ensuring that the books get to the house by Saturday has cost a small fortune. I’ve literally bought the books twice to assure that they get there in time. Procrastination certainly pays off…for Amazon that is.
Things here are definately getting a bit better than before. I’m not depressed and homesick every day, nor do I curse Asia in general for coming up with an incomprehensible language. And it’s all been with good timing as well. I can really not afford to miss any more class because the classes have gone from challenging and interesting to fucking hard and relatively miserable. For every hour of class I need to basically study at least an hour and a half…Ideally it should be between 2-3 hours and I quickly see that coming up. Long story short, I can’t fuck around and watch 2 movies a night and play on the internet for another 4 hours.
To supplement my inability to pronounce any of the words right, I’ve been listening to the Pimsleur thingy thing and it’s been helpful. Mainly it’s a good addition to my study program inasmuch as that I get to practice pronounciation, I learn about the grammar and it helps teach phrases that one would use in every-day scenarios.
On a more amusing note, though. One of the things I learned to say today is “Would you like to go to my place or yours?” I’m sure that Ali would appreciate that one.
