So…this is a pretty broad question, but I’m looking for some new music and I’m hoping that someone can send me some new stuff my way…
Help?
Lately I’ve been listening to lots of:
Wolf Parade
Arctic Monkeys
Tapes ‘n Tapes (Awesome band, if you haven’t checked these guys out, btw)
Arcade Fire
Modest Mouse
Gomez
Josh Ritter
Joshua Radin
Kings of Convenience
Shout Out Louds
Minus the Bear
The Sounds
Decemberists/Colin Meloy
Velvet Teen
Wilco
Yo La Tengo
Cake
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

Sophie Zelmani
Vertical Horizon – Trying to Find Purpose
Peter LeMarc – Älskad FrÃ¥n Första Stund
Matt Pond PA – City Song
Carbon Leaf is fun
Carlos Libedinsky – Vi Luz y Subi
Cassandra Wilson or Jesse Cook – Fragile
José González (try Slow Moves for a start)
The Gregorian Monks (Chant) version of Nothing Else Matters
Turin Brakes – JackinaBox
Ulrich Schnauss – Blumenthal (reminds me of a wide-scoped Christmas song, without words, without denomination.. just expanse)
Looks like you might be in mood to revisit
Suzanne Vega,
Vienna Teng,
maybe Something Corporate,
Jamie Cullum,
Joe Purdy,
Thisway (Crawl),
The Thrills,
TV on the Radio,
Widespread Panic – Bear’s Gone Fishin,
and Idlewild – American English (definitely revisit this one)
more favorite and new music recommendations:
Blue Merle
Aidan Hawken
Blue October
Mat Kearney
Ben Kweller
The New Amsterdams
Dave Melilo
Schuyler Fisk
Spill Canvas
The Tides
and you’re on top of The Weepies and Matt Nathanson but can’t hurt to mention for cyberspace
The Weepies are just cute cute cute. They are the huggable puppies of bands. As for Ben Kweller, I’m a fan. I have a bit of an issue with the Tides, but I’ll certainly check out the other bands. Matt Nathanson is a lot fun and I’m annoyed that I missed him in concert.
