I’m taking off to Honduras for a couple of days next week to see my ailing grandfather and the rest of the family. It’s strange, I realize that I’ve actually never dealt with a sever illness or a death in my family. When there has been a serious illness in our family, I was always too young to really understand what was going on. This is the first time I’ve had to really face the reality of the situation, the complexities, the circumstances and the possibilities.

Regardless, as my cabbie friend told me on Thursday morning:

It is always good to return to your land; it is all too easy to forget where you came from.

I just got tickets for Tapes ‘n Tapes over at the Black Cat. A day or so before, the Decemberists will be playing at the 9:30 club and I’m uber excited about that concert. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but I’ll be hitting the ‘refresh’ button on a regular basis until I can buy them. I’m also debating going to see The National at the Black Cat on the 26th of October. First of all, three concerts in a week is a bit much. I like sleeping and I’ll also be a couple of days away from the Marine Corps Marathon that’s on the 29th of October.

Speaking of which…you should donate

So that’s a quick update on where I am. Dreaming of Oriental hotels, listening to the National, running for a marthon and re-taking the LSATs. If I survive the autumn, I’ll be a happy person.
