Nothing quite as professional as calling a client and then bursting out into a coughing fit as soon as they pick up the phone.
Following the three minute coughing fit…proceed to hang up and then just hope that you don’t show up on caller ID.

an account person i worked with once wanted to make an international call and accidentally pressed the 9 key (the one needed to get the outside line) twice…
thus dialing 9… 911…
he hung up immediately after he noticed his mistake.
and not long after that was surrounded by police.

or were they firefighters? i don’t remember.

Sadly, that has actually happened to me before. Luckily, in MD they call back to confirm all is ok before sending the SWAT team to your house.
