So far the first three weeks have been academically totally doable. I’m behind some people, ahead of a lot, and generally uncertain and ambivalent with respect to a lot of other things. From an academic perspective, I love law school so far. It’s totally awesome and challenging and interesting. I can’t wait to see who I’ll be at the end of three years.
Quick recap:
Contracts: Really kindof interesting. I feel like I missed a class somewhere along the line where we went over the basics, but I’m catching up. Happily so.
Torts: Socially provocative and regularly challenging. Whenever I think I have a rule, there’s more to find and more left to dig. I dig deeper and I find more and I have more questions at the end of it.
Property: I’m unsure about this class. I’m not sure if it’s the professor or the subject-matter. It feels arcane when it shouldn’t and I can’t really find the real-world application with respect to myself. I’m pretty behind on this class somehow and I need a good weekend of review and briefing to catch up, so maybe that is a lot of what is coloring my judgment with respect to Property.
CivPro: Boring and I was ready to give up on it. I spoke with the Prof this morning and I think I know how to tackle it now. Before I thought it was more of an undergrad-like class. I think once I know how to look at a problem in the right light, I can figure out what tools I need to fix it.
Legal Methods: My opinion totally depends on the grade of my first paper that I turned in earlier this week. If I did well, then it’s awesome. if I didn’t do well, then this class is frustrating, doesn’t make sense, and I hate citations. Well, regardless of the grade, I loathe citations. Bluebook can kiss my ass.
More case recaps to come once I finish typing them up.
