Because in the end if there are no gods. If I’m just talking into the ether, then that just means that I’m not only talking to myself, but I’m not getting anything out of it.

I need to learn French.

Also, figure out my dream job and work backwards from there. the truth is that as much as I’d love to be Neil Gaiman…I’m not. And personal craziness aside, there are things I want to do in my life. If I’ve been consistent about anything since I’ve been 18, it’s that. I’ve never wavered in what I want to do. I’ve wavered in sacrificing and working for it.

But now is not the time to be scared.

A longer post for, hopefully, this weekend: The past two weeks the term “Chinese Curse” have been everywhere; especially with respect to either the election or the market slump. The curse is:

May you live in interesting times.

It’s apparently the third of three “curses,” each one that increases with severity. The next one is:

May you come to the attention of those in authority.

and the most severe:

May you find what you are looking for.

Which reminds me of one of my all-time favorite movie quotes (from The Way of the Gun): “Your prayers are always answered, in the order they’re received.”
