A little bit of insomnia tonight. Strangely, it’s kinda ok. In talking with a professor on Monday, I mentioned that I like to run and how much I miss to run along the C&O Canal (another good picture I found here) and my inability to find an equivalent jogging trail. He told me about this amazing site and after running some errands I stopped by this afternoon for my daily run. It is a gorgeous area. The running trail is paved, but surrounds a lake that is reserved as a bird and wildlife habitat. As soon as I get the chance, I’ll bring the camera and post any pics up on flickr.
The trail itself is definitely a lot harder than the treadmills at the gym, but…truth be told, running outside in the woods is like pulling on an old blanket and instantly feels like a home of sorts. It’s a hard run and I was sweaty and out of breath really quickly, but I could instantly see the future weeks and mornings and evenings spent on that trail, and…and I can’t wait.
