Greetings from Beijing. In the past two weeks I’ve been to Suzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing and now here. The funny thing is that in the past 4 months I had never even ventured out of the city. Now that I found how easy it is to get from Nanjing to Shanghai (3 hours and 72RMB!) I’m most certainly planning on doing it more frequently. I want to get to know Shanghai better.
That being said, the true gem that I’ve seen so far has been Beijing. What an incredible city. At this point right now, it seems to have a nice balance between totally modern and culturally reminiscent of the older China I always had in my mind. The hutongs, the people coming out in the evenings to talk, gossip, play card games, and to watch the children play.
And a stone’s throw away we see skyskrapers with neon names proclaiming IBM, ING, and Nokia.
Nanjing has been the perfect city for me to transition into China, but Beijing is where I will soon be.

Homeward bound in 2 days. While I have many mixed thoughts about going back to the States (even if it will be for a short amount of time) I must say that all my thoughts are pretty much focused on a certain girl and spending as much time with her as I can.
