I can’t really say that it’s one thing above others, but I have been having a great time at home. Seeing Alicson is simply great, and the sense of family and not being alone is something that I’ve been missing more than I’ve known. And when I am reminded that this is only temporary, I become more unhappy about having to return to China.
While it’s certainly different, I think that the big thing is that while I’ve made friends and contacts there, it certainly isn’t home by any sense of the word. My stuff is there, but it’s not much more than a great experience and a location. Other than that, there’s not too much more.
The big question for me now involves the next steps and where they’ll lead me. Should I stay an extra semester in Nanjing as planned or should I put things on the fast track and move to Beijing in the fall? Should I focus on language or should I focus on getting an internship? Where to apply for schools for the fall of ‘06? Will Ali come or not?
