Woah, long time no post. A little re-cap of the past couple of days:
1) The laptop. After getting my laptop back for the third time from the people over at Apple, and after realizing for the THIRD time that something new was wrong with the computer, I took it back to the store and raised hell. (I gave them a mean look and many exasperated sighs) Eventually, they relented to my onslaught of sighs and mean looks and I got a brand-new G4 12inch laptop which is slightly more awesome than the previous one I had.
The cool little bonus to this whole ordeal has been
A) I got a brand-new computer
B) My ‘shift’ button had broken off many a day ago back in China. They weren’t gonna fix this, but since I got a new computer, I am pleased (as is my new and fully functional shift button)
C) My power cord was totally falling apart. But with a new computer comes a new power cord and I am pleased with the good people at Apple.
2) America. Still in the US and totally loving it. Been going to the parks, seen a lot of friends, hanging out and enjoying my time back as much as I can.
I hate to say it, but I’m contemplating calling in a bomb scare…to China. So I won’t have to go back. (the question for this strategy is how to go about doing this…’Hello? China? Hi, you have a bomb in your country..don’t let Berto back in.’)
The only downsides I’ve encountered in being back in the land of ridiculsously large people and SUVs include:
A) Being unable to haggle for anything. And if I try to haggle for something I just get weird looks. (If I want 3 cheeseburgers for the price of 1, why is that weird?!)
B) The food. The portions in America are just ridiculous, people. I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten more here during dinner at Fridays than I did the entire time I was in China.
C) Those who know me know that subtlety isn’t my strong point. So forgive me, but DAMN are there a lot of bigger people here.
D) Prices. Maaaaaan oh man. paying any bill just makes me cringe knowing that I’m paying 20 chinese people’s wages for the year by that meal at Checkers.
