I haven’t posted anything about Katrina simply because I don’t feel qualified to say anything about it, and more importantly, I don’t really have anything new to add. I must say that regardless of being a Democrat or Republican, after 9/11, one of the top priorities would be to plan for scenarios involving city-wide evacuations. DHS is responsible for coordinating between federal, state and local governments in situations just like this…and yet…

It’s suddenly 4 years later and the handling of Katrina was…ineffective to say the least. Didn’t this administration tell us to vote for them because they could keep us safe? What happened? Did they think that going to Iraq would keep all the danger away from the US so there would be no reason to worry about evacuating a city? Was that the plan?!

What really upsets me is the blame game taking place and this Administration and their refusal to take any sort of blame on any level. Iraq is going according to plan; there is no problem with the economy (Just blame China); the Dollar is doing just fine; the environment is healthy ; no one could have thought that a hurricane could do so much damage…

It just keeps on coming again and again. And then on that day that another disaster takes place, nothing will have changed at all.

A good example of the nice bubble of the Administration is found via the very awesome Wonkette

On Sunday, DHS chief Michael Chertoff told "Meet the Press’s" Tim Russert that one reason for the delay in getting federal aid to Katrina victims was that "everyone" thought the crisis had passed when the storm left: "I remember on Tuesday morning picking up newspapers and I saw headlines, ‘New Orleans Dodged The Bullet.’"
